Biggs Baseball Falls to Maxwell

BIGGS, CA (MPG) – Biggs saw itself fall from the ranks of the unbeaten in the Mid-Valley League last week as they dropped a pair of games to Maxwell by scores of 0-1 and 5-9, respectively.
On the road last Monday, the Wolverines got a masterful effort on the mound from David Ibarra but could not break through against Panther pitcher Yahir Alcaraz and as a result, suffered the narrow loss.

Ibarra and Brady Smith accounted for the Wolverines’ only two hits in the game.
Completing the series with Maxwell at home on April 17, Biggs got two hits from Matthew Martin and one apiece from Smith, Cameron Kroupa and Russell Cote, but it was not enough to get past the Panthers.
In between their games with the Panthers, the Wolverines posted a 17-4 non-conference win over Lindhurst on April 16.

Ibarra, Cote, Dennis Dewhurst and Davis Long each had a pair of hits in the win.
Four pitchers, including Smith, Cote, Brayden Martin and Wyatt Whetstone, combined to strike out eight batters and limit the Blazers to four hits.
This week the Wolverines (11-6, 4-2) played a non-league game in Live Oak on April 22. Then, they will head to the Durham Tournament, which runs on April 25 through April 26.
