GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - The Gridley Bulldog girls basketball team ended their three-game losing streak and moved to 8-15 overall and 4-4 in league this past week.

On Tuesday, Feb. 4 the Bulldogs traveled to Corning to face the Cardinals and played a strong game right when they needed it. The Bulldogs and Cardinals both played strong defense in the first quarter as the Bulldogs scored nine and the Cardinals scored seven. The Bulldogs then went into the second quarter and played what might’ve been their strongest quarter of the season scoring 17 points and holding the Cardinals to four and went into halftime with a 26-11 lead. That would ultimately be the deciding quarter of the game as the Cardinals and Bulldogs played a tightly contested third and fourth quarter. Ultimately, the Bulldogs went home with a 57-40 win

On Friday, Feb. 7, the Bulldogs took a short bus ride to Live Oak to face the Lions. The game was tight through the first three quarters as the rivals exchanged turnovers and forced missed shots. The Bulldogs went into the fourth quarter with a lead of 33-28 and just when it seemed like a nail-biting finish was in store, the Bulldogs ramped up their defense and held the Lions to only three points while keeping their offensive intensity. The Bulldogs took the game with a final score of 46-31.

The Bulldogs have a pair of important home games to close out the regular season. On Tuesday, Feb.11 the Bulldogs are scheduled to take on the Orland Trojans and then on Friday, Feb. 14 the Oroville Tigers will come to town, after press time. Both games will start at 7:30 p.m.
