BIGGS, CA (MPG) – Biggs High Wolverines boys basketball team hadn't done well against Williams recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Jan. 28. In a tight match that could have gone either way, the Biggs Wolverines made off with a 47-46 victory over the Williams Yellowjackets.

Biggs High’s Brady Smith went supernova for Biggs, going 9 of 16 en route to 22 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That's the most points Smith has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Wolverine junior Skyler Long, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Diego Ambriz, who posted 18 points. The contest was Ambriz's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Juarez, who put up 11 points.

Biggs High School has been performing well recently posting a 13-6 overall record and 4-2 in league play, as of Feb. 3. The Wolverines are scheduled to host Hamilton City on Feb. 4 and travel to Portola on Feb. 6, after press time.
