The Lady Bulldogs Continue to Struggle

GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - The Gridley Bulldog basketball girls continue to struggle as they moved to 6-15 overall and 2-4 in the league this past week.

On Tuesday, Jan. 28 the Bulldogs traveled to Oroville to take on the Tigers. The Bulldogs played strong on both sides of the ball in the first half holding a tie of 17-17. The Bulldogs however, did not improve on their first half showing while the Tigers did the opposite. The Tigers would explode on offense in the second half scoring 15 in the third and 18 in the fourth. The Bulldogs tried to hold on as they scored 10 in the third but could not keep up as they scored only four points in the fourth and the Tigers sent the Bulldogs home with a 31-50 loss. Junior Aubree Weber led the Bulldogs in scoring with 14 points.

On Friday, Jan. 31 the Bulldogs hosted the Las Plumas Thunderbirds. After a strong defensive effort from the Bulldogs in the first quarter, the Thunderbirds caught fire and scored at will for the remaining three quarters. The Bulldogs could not score nearly enough to keep up with the Thunderbirds as they got ran over losing the game 53-33. Senior Charity Archer led the Bulldogs in scoring with 13 points.

The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to face the Corning Cardinals on Feb. 4 on the road. On Feb. 7 the Bulldogs will travel to Live Oak to face the Lions, after press time. Both games are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
