Lions Split to End Preseason
Jan 15, 2025 09:14AM ● By Dillon LongmireLIVE OAK, CA (MPG) - The Live Oak Lions boys basketball team closed their preseason schedule by splitting games in early January.
The Lions faced the Los Molinos Bulldogs in a tightly contested game at home on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Neither team could get more than a five-point lead throughout the entirety of the game and the final outcome was not decided until the final seconds when the Lions held on and defeated the Bulldogs 41-44. Junior Harjot Kular led the Lions with 19 points.
On Wednesday, Jan. 8, the Lions faced the Biggs Wolverines in Biggs. The Wolverines dominated on both sides of the ball in the first half, scoring 39 points while holding the Lions to only 15 points. In the third quarter, the Lions made a push, but it ultimately was not enough to comeback against the strong offense from the Wolverines. Live Oak ended up dropping the game with a final score of 65-46.
The Lions are scheduled to open up league play against the Orland Trojans in Orland on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 7:30 p.m., after press time.
