Butte College to Host Gridiron Classic Bowl

OROVILLE, CA (MPG) - The stage is set for the Gridiron Classic Bowl as the Butte College Roadrunners (9-1) take on the Foothill College Owls (7-3) on Dec. 7, at Butte College’s Cowan Stadium. 

The Roadrunners, coming off a stellar season, bring a balanced offensive attack with 3,724 total yards, split almost evenly between 1,923 passing yards and 1,801 rushing yards. On the defensive side, they've limited opponents to 2,320 passing yards and 1,866 rushing yards.

Leading the charge is Nor-Cal League offensive MVP Marcus Beamon, who has had a standout season with 1,864 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. Beamon's favorite target, Brandon Smith, has racked up 40 receptions for 703 yards and seven touchdowns, showcasing their incredible chemistry. On the ground, Takeshi Faupula has carried the load with 928 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 143 carries.

Defensively, the Roadrunners are anchored by Austin Young, who leads the team with 78 tackles. The secondary is bolstered by playmaker Zach Valcarcel, who has five interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. Valcarcel also shines on special teams, averaging an impressive 37.8 yards per kickoff return and adding another touchdown return.

The Owls enter the game averaging 29.3 points per contest, with an offensive attack of 1,283 rushing yards and 2,195 passing yards.

Quarterback Jayden Macedo has thrown for 1,958 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, though he has also faced adversity with 13 interceptions. His top targets, Johnnie Barbie (30 receptions for 501 yards) and Andre Jackson (29 catches for 535 yards and five touchdowns), have been pivotal to the Owls' aerial success. On the ground, running back Jordan Fuentes has contributed 587 yards and four touchdowns on 142 carries.

Defensively, the Owls rely on Faapaia Fualema, the team leader with 79 tackles, and standout pass rusher Joshua Shanklin, who has tallied an impressive 12.5 sacks this season.
