Orchard’s Tough Decision
Nov 21, 2024 11:06AM ● By Orchard Hospital News ReleaseGRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - For many years, the Christmas tree at Orchard Hospital has been a cherished symbol of the holiday season for our community.
After exploring every possible option, we made the difficult decision to discontinue decorating the tree due to safety concerns from the Gridley Fire Department, the extensive time commitment required and the expansion of holiday celebrations downtown.
This decision was not made lightly. Through discussions with the City of Gridley, the Gridley Fire Department and Harris Tree Service, every feasible solution was considered. However, as the City’s focus on its wonderful downtown holiday celebrations has grown, community support for decorating the tree has understandably been stretched thin. Additionally, the tree’s increasing size has made safe lighting no longer possible despite everyone’s best efforts.
While this change marks the end of one beloved tradition, we are excited to fully support and participate in the City of Gridley’s downtown celebrations. These celebrations continue to grow and bring holiday joy to families across the area. By joining forces with the city, Orchard Hospital remains committed to fostering a sense of togetherness and holiday spirit.
We look forward to celebrating downtown with everyone and continuing to create meaningful holiday memories. This decision reflects our commitment to safety, collaboration, and the community’s shared spirit of the season.
Orchard Hospital extends its heartfelt gratitude to Harris Tree Service for their willingness to assist, and to the City of Gridley and the Gridley Fire Department for their past support. We thank our community for their understanding and invite everyone to join us downtown for this year’s magical holiday celebrations.
