GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - The Gridley 14U Titans hosted the Willows Jr Honkers on Saturday night, Oct. 12 for their ‘under the lights’ game. A game of great importance for the players because it was their home send-off before they go on to the next level and play for their respective High Schools in 2025.
To make the night even more interesting, the game was played during the rain which changed the Titan game plan from the outset. The Titan running game was going to be leaned on heavily due to the rain.
The rain was not a problem for Benny Zumwalt, who had a great game under the lights rushing for 150 yards and 3 touchdowns. A big reason for the Titans’ rushing success was due to the great job the offensive line which included, Hunter Jacobs, Aaron Quist, Victor Vazquez, Rayden Vaughn and Jayden Dingman.
Even though the wet conditions were difficult to deal with, titan quarterback Alec Luquin was able to connect with Talon Sannar for a 24-yard touchdown pass to end the game.
The Titans defense fed off the great energy the fans were showing, which allowed them to have another shutout game that included an interception from Elijah Broughton and a strip ball returned 58 yards for a touchdown from Hudson Oakley.
The Titans enter the last week of the regular season with a home game against Weed scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19. The Titans hope to see all the fans out there to cheer on the Gridley Titans!
