Local organizations dressed as superheroes flooded Broadway Street in Live Oak with "super" community spirit during the Live Oak Fall Festival.

LIVE OAK, CA (MPG) - Temperatures and spirits were high last Saturday but triple digit heat didn’t keep the community of Live Oak from coming together for their annual Fall Festival and Parade!

The City of Live Oak Parks and Recreation has taken over the event from the Live Oak Lions that organized the event in years past.

To increase community participation, Live Oak Parks and Recreation asked both “Superheroes” and “Villains” to unite for this year’s theme. Adults and children were encouraged to wear their favorite heroic costume to prove that Live Oak was filled with heroes.

The traditional parade route down Broadway Street saw a host of “super” entries make its way through downtown Live Oak, with comic-book themed floats, superheroes waving and throwing candy, community organizations and more.

Both the parade and its attendees ended up at Memorial Park where a host of games, vendors, and activities awaited.

As in past years, classic cars of all models were on display at the car show and food, crafts, jewelry, toys and crystals were available to those wanting to shop.

Live Oak Councilmember Lakhvir Ghag told the Herald that the event promoted inclusion in the community and the timing allowed residents that would be tied up in harvesting the plethora of local ag commodities the ability to participate, as it fell between crop harvest cycles.

The turnout was healthy and the mood was that of a relaxed, fall day filled with family friendly fun.
