LIVE OAK, CA (MPG) - The City of Live Oak celebrated alongside their brothers and sisters in law enforcement at National Night Out earlier this month.

Members of the city departments, city officials, Live Oak Lions Club, Sutter County Sheriff’s Department and the Sutter County Fire Department joined Live Oak residents at Memorial Park for an evening of fun, food and opportunities to win fun prizes.

This year, the ducky derby was held during the National Night Out celebration. Live Oak children released floating rubber ducks into the community pool representing each contestant, which were retrieved by Sutter County Sheriff’s Departments K-9 officer. Three lucky winners were chosen by the K-9, who were awarded scooters.

Vice-Mayor Nancy Santana told the Herald that the city’s backpack giveaway has been combined with National Night Out for somewhat of a “back to school” bash.

Children enjoyed Bingo, swimming and visiting with the various types of law enforcement that turned out to the event, including Live Oak’s motorcycle deputy throughout the night.
