GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Local 4-H clubs will be represented at the Butte County Fair this year, not only by their members showing and auctioning animals, but also at their booth in the livestock area.
Members of the local 4-H clubs will staff the booth, offering those interested in 4-H information on how to join regardless of if they are from Gridley or surrounding areas.
West Gridley 4-H leader Julie Emerson reminds that you do not have to own or raise an animal to be part of 4-H. Other projects include cooking, arts & crafts, and community service.
West-Gridley 4-H Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. They offer the following programs: Clover Buds (ages 5-8), egg project, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, sheep, hogs, steers, arts & crafts, and cooking. They volunteer at the Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce Winter Wonderland Parade of Lights and other community events.
Manzanita 4-H meets at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. They offer the following projects: rabbits, poultry, goats, dogs, sheep, hogs, steers, public speaking, community service, livestock judging, event planning, cooking and art & crafts.
The Biggs 4-H club is organizing their offerings and will have those opportunities available soon.
Area clubs are now accepting enrollment for the 2024-2025. For more information, please visit the 4-H booth at the fair, visit cebutte.ucanr.edu or call 530-552-5812. To contact Julie Emerson with Gridley 4-H, please call 530-300-6002.
