GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - August is just around the corner and with it comes the first Tuesday of the month or the nation-wide celebration that is National Night Out.

National Night Out aims to foster a closer bond and relationships between law enforcement officers that serve our community and the people in it.

The Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with Gridley Police Department to celebrate and grow those community partnerships.

Often CALFIRE/Butte Unit/Gridley Fire Department and other organizations join the fun.

This year bike and backpack giveaways return. The evening will be full of live music courtesy of performers Emma & Will and vendors to peruse.

Since August evenings in Gridley are often hot, children can cool off with free waterslides, expend excess energy with gigantic games, get creative with a kid’s craft, and of course, there will be food.

The Chamber is currently accepting donations of bikes for the bike give away, along with school supplies and backpacks for the backpack give away. Contact the Chamber at 530-846-3142 for more information on how to donate.

Gridley’s National Night Out is sponsored by the Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce and will be held Aug. 6, from 5-8 p.m. at Manuel Vierra Park, Gridley.
