GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – Gridley Lions Club is bringing a sweet and smushy good time to this year’s Red Suspenders Day event line up.
The Marshmallow Olympics is new to Red Suspenders Day and is brought to the community by the Lions as a fun family-friendly experience. It is a free event open to all ages with six competitions to take place.
Beginning after the parade at 12:30 in Rotary Park, contestants can choose to participate in all six events or the ones of their choosing. Events include a marshmallow catapult, stacking XL marshmallows, timed sorting of colored and shaped marshmallows, the marshmallow toss, marshmallow sprint, and of course, a marshmallow eating contest.
Except for the eating contest, marshmallows will be reused to reduce waste.
Participants will sign up for each event they are interested in while the Lions keep track of points. Prizes include bubble trophies for first, second, and third places. A grand winner will be decided based on point totals. They will take home a small basket of kid-oriented fireworks.
