Gridley High School Track and Field Athletes Advance to State Meet

GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Congratulations to four members of the GHS track team, all juniors, that advance to the Northern Section meet on May 19, 2023, at West Valley High School. Sidney Allard leaped 32' 10.25" in the triple jump. Shmaas Kahn cleared the 110m hurdles in 17.10, and AnaGloria Luevano had a personal record for the 100m hurdles, crossing the line at 17.42. All three athletes are BVL All-League Champions and are also Northern Section Division 2 Champions in their respective events. Brian Brown qualified in the high jump with a mark of 5'8". He also leaped 20' for a third-place finish in the long jump securing medals in both events.
Luevano’s mark is impressive since it was her 5th time running hurdles in her three-year journey on the track team. She also placed 2nd in the 300m hurdles with 48.80 setting another personal record. Tannah Taff from West Valley took the win with 48.44 leaning at the line just a fraction of a second ahead of AnaGloria.
Khan’s personal best for the 110m hurdles is 16.64 set at the Butte View league meet on April 26 and is seeded 5th for the northern section. For the rest of the Bulldogs, Allard is ranked 2nd in the girl’s triple jump while Brown is seeded 8th in the high jump. Luevano gets the 2nd position for the girl’s 100m and 300m hurdles.
Section champions automatically advance to the state meet in Clovis on May 26-27.
