BUTTE COUNTY, CA (MPG) - On January 28th, a structure known as the ‘Church of the Barn’ located on the 2700 block of Hwy 70, caught fire.

According to the CALFIRE/Butte County Incident Report, the call regarding the structure fire came in at approximately 5:09 pm. Crews responded within 10 minutes of dispatch. Heavy fire and smoke were reported coming from the roof of the church, which doubles as a residence. 

Crews attacked the flames from both the exterior and interior of the building, searching for residents as they attempted to contain the blaze. According to the incident report, about 50 percent of the building was engulfed and the fire was knocked down within 40 minutes. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

Responding support came in the form of 6 engine/truck companies, 3 volunteer companies, 4 overhead personnel, a breathing support unit, overall totaling 21 personnel. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
