GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Gridley Quota held their annual Graduating Honor Students’ Luncheon for Gridley, Biggs and Live Oak High Schools.  All of the students invited held a minimum GPA of 3.83.  These students proudly represented their high schools.  There were 14 Live Oak students, 11 Gridley students and 2 Biggs students enjoying the Quota lunch of hamburgers, veggies and watermelon with ice cream and brownies for dessert.

Jan Meyers, President of Quota for 2022, emphasized her theme, “Try to be a Rainbow in Someone Else’s Cloud,” "'a quote by Maya Angelou.

Meyers showed solidarity with the students by having Quota members say where and when they graduated high school.  A game that included a story about many teachers with the name of Wright did a lot of left turns, while students passed gift cards to the left or right.  Each table had a big winner of $25.

Quota used some of their earnings from their thrift store on Spruce Street to give out $11,500 in scholarships this year.  Several of the students present were recipients of $750.00 scholarships. The announcements are being presented at each school’s awards night. There are 8 Gridley recipients with two of these being Legacy scholars with $250.00 each. Legacy scholars are the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Quota members.  Four scholarships went to Live Oak students and two went to Biggs students.  Quota’s purpose is to help girls, boys and women.
