GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – Upon walking through the doors of the new Huckleberry’s restaurant in Gridley, guests will be greeted by a swaying willow tree, the sound of crickets chirping softly in the background, and bright smiles from the staff as they invite you in to partake of the southern charm of the establishment.

Serving breakfast and lunch, Huckleberry’s website describes the restaurant as “Southern Cookin’ with a California Twist!” Their menu features items such as Southern Peach Iced Tea served in a Mason jar with a sugared rim, their Mardi Gras Beignets–southern fritters with sweet cream and 3 kinds of fruit topping, and Louisiana Catfish prepared either in Bayou Style or Creole Style. Of course, their menu also features the tried-and-true staples, such as burgers, soups and salads, skillets, and a host of breakfast favorites.

The community has anxiously been awaiting the opening of the restaurant since first learning of its intentions to establish itself in Gridley back in 2021. A newly refurbished building, with a redesigned interior and larger bathrooms (just a few of the changes) was completed in December and Huckleberry’s official opened its doors to the public December 23rd. The parking lot has been packed ever since.

In the short time that Huckleberry’s has been open, it has already established regular customers, like local Randy Walton, who says he dines there nearly every day. Of his meals, Walton says they have been “Very good! The menu is really good.” He continues, “and the service is awesome!”

Manager Julie Wiles, who has 15 years’ experience in the business, shares that Huckleberry’s has attracted servers from surrounding and past establishments, like Gridley’s former Black Bear Diner, so customers will likely see familiar faces. The Huckleberry’s staff, she says, is amazing and of the combination of such a wonderful crew, returning customers, new regulars and first-time customers, she says, “It feels like a family reunion to me.”

Huckleberry’s is located at 1586 Highway 99 and is open from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm every day. For more information and a look at their menu, please visit https://www.huckleberrys.com.
