GHS FFA Welding Field Day a Success!

GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – On December 3rd Gridley FFA hosted its annual welding field day competition.

Students from across the State came to Gridley High School to compete in Various welding procedures, problem solving, written test, weld testing, and a Job Portfolio, as well as a job application rotation.

The North State had a strong showing with Durham High School placing 3rd and Josh Blumlein receiving a Scholarship from the American Welding Society presented by Don Robinson of Butte College. Second place went to Live Oak High School and the First-place team was Gridley High School. The winning team consisted of Greyson Sannar, Calista Fox, Michael Sanchez and Jonathan Sanchez. Greyson Sannar came out on top as the first high individual, followed by Calista Fox, who was second high individual and Michael Sanchez who was third high individual. Gridley placed 1st high team and won some great awards. Many students also received their limited D1.1 certification in SMAW 3G with 7018 as one of the applications.

A big thank you goes out to our wonderful Judges and MJB Welding for donating all of the prizes for the day, as well as Gerlinger Steel for donating all of the Steel for the competition. Adam Khan and Allen Vargas, the chairmen of the Welding Field Day committee helped make this event a great success.
