GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Friday night saw a number of good games as the Gridley Invitational Basketball Tournament entered the second day of play.
Host team Gridley played the 5:30 pm game against an impressive Sheldon team out of the Elk-Grove/Sacramento Area. Despite the Bulldogs efforts they ultimately fell to Sheldon 89-31.
The 7:00 pm game proved to be much more exciting with Sacramento High School playing against Archbishop Riordan High School visiting from San Francisco. The action started immediately with Riordan jumping out to small lead before Sacramento found their footing. The action remained through the rest of the game with Riordan taking the win at the end of the game, 60-53.
In between the 7 and 8:30 game Gridley High Royalty make their way onto the court for the crowning of this year’s GIBT Queen, Lucera Angel.
The 8:30 game featured Campolindo High School out of Moraga, CA versus De La Salle High school coming to Gridley out of Concord. It was a game of hard-fought baskets; a test of both team’s defenses. Campolindo would finish the game ahead of De La Salle, 48-41.
