The City of Gridley’s Parks and Recreation Department is planning a series of public comment Zoom meetings and is inviting the citizens of Gridley to participate.

The meetings are intended to allow for community input as the City prepares to apply for funding from the Rural Recreation and Tourism Grant, through the California Parks and Recreation program that could allot up to $3 million in funding per grant application. Any funds awarded from this grant would be intended for use towards the realization of the Sports Complex Master Plan at the Gridley Industrial Park and the Manuel Vierra Park Revitalization.

These meetings will be held in both English and Spanish and are scheduled for the following dates: English Meetings: Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 6:30-7:30 pm, Thursday October 14, 2021 from 10:00 -11:00 am, Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 9:30 -10:30 am, and Tuesday October 26, 2021 from 6:30-7:30 pm. Spanish Meetings: Thursday October 14, 2021 from 6:30-7:30 pm, Saturday October 16, 2021, 11:00 am-12:00 pm. City Council Meeting: Tuesday, October 18th at 6:00 pm.

This is the first time that a series of public input meetings has been conducted using QR codes to launch the zoom meetings. The flyer with respective QR Codes for each meeting can be viewed at: https://bit.ly/3oYoflk. A Facebook post by the City of Gridley instructs: “Please use the QR Codes with your smart phone camera to attend the Zoom meeting and give us your input! If this is your first time using a QR Code open the camera on your smart phone and hold it up to the QR code to join the meeting. The Zoom meeting will pop up and allow you to join once the meeting has started. Please check the Gridley Parks and Recreation FACEBOOK or the QR code to Facebook on the flyer for updates.”

Residents are urged to attend and share what they would like to see happen with our current parks and potential new facilities. For more information about the projects, please contact the City Engineer, Dave Harden, PE at 530-906-1806.
