Tons of Fun Planned for Harvest Bowl Week
GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Gridley High School Leadership has it all dialed in for the Harvest Bowl with a week of fun-filled activities planned for students.
On Saturday, September 25th, the seniors got down and dirty at the annual Senior Street Painting Day. GHS Seniors got to take part in the “Senior Tradition” dating back over 25 years, wherein they personalize their parking spot in front of the high school with spray paint and their own creative design. Seniors were out bright and early, beginning their artistic work at 8:00 am. Leadership Advisor Jennifer Davidson says of the tradition, “It’s a super fun event and the turnout was fantastic this year!”
Harvest Bowl Week officially kicked off Monday, September 27th, with 5-festive days of dress up planned to show off GHS’s school spirit. That evening, the school hosted a free “movie night” at 7:30 pm for students. Tuesday, things got colorful with lunch time t-shirt tie-dying to wear at Friday’s big game.
The spirit-filled week will culminate Friday with the Harvest Bowl football game between Gridley and their rivals, the Live Oak Lions. In preparation for the clash out at the Boneyard, GHS will be rallying hard all day. The school is hosting another food truck lunch for students and then from 4:00-5:00 pm in the afternoon will host a tailgate party full of games, face-painting and general gridiron prep. The student section of the Boneyards bleachers, which has been reflecting a designated theme these past few games, will be wearing “Pink” in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Leadership students plan to hand out pink beads to the Dog Squad, or student cheering section, during the game.
Gridley High School Bulldogs will take on the Live Oak Lions at the annual Harvest Bowl this Friday, October 1st, starting at 7:30 pm on the Boneyard. Gates open at 4:30 pm.
