Wolverines Football Back on the Gridiron, Start Season 2-0

The Wolverines won the contest by a final of 53-20
BIGGS, CA (MPG) - Biggs High School varsity football has been back in action on the gridiron since Saturday, September 11, 2021, when they hosted Coral Academy of Science (Reno, NV). The Wolverines jumped out to a commanding lead over the Falcons 33-6 in the first half. Senior quarterback, Riley Rutherford, kept the Falcons off balance mixing in the air attack with the run game. Rutherford was 5-for-6 in the air with 117 yards and three touchdown passes for the Wolverines. Senior tight end, Cody Roles, caught two of Rutherford’s touchdown passes totaling 30 yards on two receptions. Senior running back, Ovian Cammon, caught one pass for 27 yards and the score. On the ground, sophomore running back, Zach Smith, dominated the ground game for the Wolverines rushing for 123 yards on 19 carries scoring one touchdown. Smith was brought up to varsity for a few games during last year’s season, giving him just the necessary experience needed to show out in the home opener. Senior running back, Camren Jackson, carried the ball 12 times for 47 yards and a score.
Defensively for the Wolverines, senior linebacker, Camren Jackson, had himself a game with three tackles and an interception that he returned 83 yards for the touchdown. Senior middle linebacker, Cody Roles, had five solo tackles in the game and an interception.
The Wolverines won the contest by a final of 53-20.
In their latest contest, the Wolverines hosted Hamilton High School at Del Kalbach Stadium, on Friday, September 17, 2021. Biggs dominated the Braves throughout the entire game, keeping them scoreless and winning 35-0. Cammon led the Wolverines offense with 178 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns. Jackson rushed 14 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Rutherford carried the ball three times for 37 yards and a score. On defense, Roles dominated that side of the ball with another strong performance of 10 tackles and two interceptions. Senior strong safety, Alex Cardwell, had 11 tackles in the game.
The Wolverines are back home again on October 1, 2021, when they host the Etna Lions at 7:30 P.M.
