Bike donations for the Bike Giveaway held at National Night Out keep rolling in. The crew from the Gridley Electric Department donated these two beauties after pooling their personal money to purchase the bikes and GPD has multiple bike donations on the way. GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Mark your calendars, National Night Out is right around the corner!

The Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce (GACC) in partnership with Gridley Police Department (GPD) and Gridley Fire/CALFIRE Butte County, have organized a fantastic National Night Out for the family this year, Tuesday, August 3rd, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Manuel Vierra Park, Gridley.

Started in 1984 and celebrating its 38th year, NNO aims to “enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community,” says the NNO website. NNO 2021 will feature a variety of vendors selling crafts, goods and food. Gridley’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5731 will be keeping things cool by handing out free snow cones, the Gridley Lions Club will be serving brauts and the Gridley High School Volleyball team will be holding their Ice Cream Social. There will be plenty to eat and plenty to do!

Activities galore have been planned for the kiddos, including firing up Vierra Parks Splash Pad and getting the party hopping in bounce houses.  Face painting and craft booths will be available for the more mellow visitors, along with games and activities planned by Gridley Fire/CALFIRE. Claude the Dragon will be making a fiery appearance and the little ones won’t want to miss selfies with the Disney Princesses. New this year, superhero Spiderman will even be swinging by!

One of the biggest draws is the bike rodeo and bike giveaway. Participants in the rodeo will need to bring their own bikes, which will be put to the test on a course designed by GPD. The GACC has been hard at work soliciting and collecting bike donations for the Bike Giveaway. Bike donations from the crew at Gridley Electric Department and GACC have already been received and more are on their way from generous organizations and members of the community.

If you would like to donate to National Night Out, become a vendor or have any questions, please contact the Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce at (530) 846-3142. See you there!
