GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – On Saturday, July 17th at approximately 8:13 am, a single car, single passenger accident occurred at the Gridley O’Reilly Auto Parts.
Gridley Police Officers responded to a call at the O’Reilly Auto Parts store located in the Heritage Oak Shopping center. According to reports taken by GPD, the 82-year-old female driver of a Ford Edge experienced a vehicle malfunction upon pulling up to the O’Reilly store. Allegedly, the driver’s throttle got stuck and the vehicle suddenly launched itself towards the doors of the auto parts store. The red SUV took out one of the supports for the shopping mall's roof/awning and stopped just outside the store’s window-lined façade and glass double doors.
Emergency Medical Services were dispatched, as the driver complained of pain, but luckily no one was seriously injured.
The damage to the building is still visible. O’Reilly Auto Parts is open for business and asking customers to enter through the back. O’Reilly employees have been unable to comment on the incident, referring all inquiries to the corporate office.
