Little League Softball All-Stars Compete in District 47 Tournament

GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Gridley Little League softball completed a full twelve game season of play on the ball fields this year. It was great to see players back on the diamonds competing and learning valuable lessons about the game, and even greater lessons about life. At the conclusion of the season, coaches, managers, and league officials selected the rosters of players from the minors and majors softball divisions to represent Gridley Little League and compete in the District 47 All-Star Tournament.

The players selected from the minors division to represent the Gridley All-Stars were: Austyn Deal, Carlie Baxter, Chevie Crislip, Hailey Singh, Keira Holcomb, Malayna Ceballos, Melina Jurado, Millicent Dent, Rylee Moore, Salem Benson, Sienna Davis, and Whitney Clark. The team was coached by Jenny Benson and Andy Moore. The minors All-Star Team started their tournament play on Saturday, June 19, 2021, against Orland Little League at DeGarmo Park in Chico, CA. Gridley won the contest 7-6 to advance in the bracket to play Chico Little League on Monday, June 21st. Chico Little League won the contest 12-0 to force Gridley to the losers side of the bracket to play Lake Oroville Little League the following day. Gridley ended up losing the game 22-6 to end their tournament play.

The players selected from the majors division to represent the Gridley All-Stars were: Alexis Alcantar, Andrea Guillen, Aubree Vaughan, Avery Mendenhall, Eve Sherer, Gabriela Garcia, Maddison De La Fuente, Noemi Castillo, Oliviah Jurado, Rebecca Solis, Tatiana Rivero, and Vivian King. The team was coached by Javier Solis Sr, Amber Mendenhall, and Eric Jurado. The softball majors All-Atar Team started their tournament play on Saturday, June 19, 2021, against Orland Little League at DeGarmo Park in Chico, CA. Orland Little League won the contest 21-13 forcing Gridley to the losers bracket to play Lake Oroville Little League the following day. On Sunday, June 20th, Gridley fell by a final of 8-1 to end their tournament play.
