GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Kaleidoscope is Gridley’s own arts council, focused on promoting the arts in Gridley, especially among our youth. At the end of each school year, Kaleidoscope awards scholarships and art awards to several talented GHS students.
Kayllen Barnette and Ciah Moran received this year’s generous scholarships. Barnette participated in GHS Modern Dance, Choir, One Act Plays, and musical theater, where she performed the role of Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz.” Moran participated in GHS Modern Dance, Choir, One Act Plays, musical theater, and the Renaissance Festival. Both young women will begin college this fall, working toward careers in the medical field.
Eight GHS students received the Kaleidoscope Art Awards: Kirk Cunha--Photo/Mixed Media, Alondra Perez--Creative Writing, Marysa Taylor--Instrumental Music, Collette Hansen--Vocal Music, Tyler Owens--Visual Art, Johnny Burks--Drama, Saydie Price--Dance, Madeline Hamman--Floral Art. Teachers and advisors in each artistic area selected these students.
Kaleidoscope recognizes our community’s many artistically talented youth with funds from their annual “Swing Into Spring” golf tournament and other fundraisers. These youth will strengthen the vital role the arts play in Gridley.
