A dominant 6-1 victory!

GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Gridley High School’s varsity soccer team kicked their season off on Tuesday, April 27, 2021with a 2-1 loss against Wheatland High School. Since then, the Bulldogs have been on a mission to keep the ball in the back of their opponent’s net. Freddy Anguiano scored the only goal on an assist from Alberto Torres in their loss to the Pirates. Ethan Santillan, Kevin Martinez, and Cuahutemoc Alaniz each recorded six individual steals in the match.

On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, the Bulldogs hosted their first home game of the season against the visiting Corning Cardinals. In a dominant 6-1 victory, Anguiano completed the impressive hat trick scoring three goals in the match. Ricky Ramos scored two goals and Angel Castaneda scored one goal. Hector Palafox had a huge assist in the match while Santillan and Alejandro Rodriguez stole the ball from the Cardinals six times each.

On Thursday, May 6, 2021, the Bulldogs hosted Orland High School in another bout of competition. In a tough battle against the Trojans, the Bulldogs pulled off the 2-1 victory. Ramos and Martinez each put the ball into the back of the net for the Bulldogs with Anguiano assisting each goal. Goalie, Rafael Cuevas, had a tremendous game with 10 recorded saves. 

The Bulldogs have seven more games to their schedule with their final match against Chico High School on May 27th at home.
