GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – Lots of lil’ bunnies hopped on down to Gridley’s Vierra Park for the 2021 Lions Drive-Thru Easter Egg Hunt.
The Gridley Lions worked hard to continue the beloved family tradition of the Lions Easter Egg Hunt, planning a drive-thru event to continue the community Easter fun! On Wednesday, March 31st, the Lions met at their den to assemble hundreds of goody bags filled with candy and eggs, and finalize the finishing touches for the big day.
The rush came early on as cars lined up at both park entrances at 10:00 am Saturday morning, patiently waiting their turn as their cars crept closer to “Easter Island” where the Lions Club had their base set up. Decorated with cutouts of giant colorful easter eggs, bunnies and more, the Lions, three Easter Bunnies, and the Queens and Princesses from the Miss Butte County Royal Court helped hand out Easter goody bags to excited children. A handful of lucky children found a surprise inside their eggs, winning a stuffed bunny, or the grand prize, a giant, rainbow stuffed unicorn.
Lion Vern Hartman says that the rush came early, and that the last hour of the hunt was pretty slow. Regardless of the smaller turnout this year, those community members attending were visibly thankful for the hard work and effort put forth by the Gridley Lions Club and other volunteers.
