BIGGS, CA (MPG) - What started out as a Biggs Cloverbuds project, quickly expanded to include some of the 4-H group and 5 officers. Inspired by Club Leaders Brian Harrison and Jonna Phillips, the Cloverbuds decided to create handmade Easter Cards for seniors.
Group Leader Wendy Hall, who procured the art supplies for the card says that her Cloverbuds “were motivated, they were excited, they like the opportunity to be able to give back.”
“We talked about how important our grandparents are…. how so many of our seniors that are in these facilities, haven’t been able to see their family. So, they (cloverbuds) were hoping that it would just bless their hearts to get a message from the kids,” said Hall.
Hall says that she had about 15 kids participating and that in total, they made 55 cards. The kids got so into it that they requested to write personalized messages inside each of the cards for the residents that would receive them.
Due to COVID-19, Hovlid is currently restricting visitations, and the children could not personally deliver their cards. Club Leaders Brian Harrison and Jonna Phillips delivered the cards to the center on behalf of their Cloverbuds and 4-H members. An employee at Hovlid, who has asked to remain nameless, said that the cards were “Amazing”. They go on to say that the residents knew it was Easter and that they “were really looking forward to some sort of contact.” They were ecstatic when the cards arrived.
The residents said, “Seeing those cards….it really lit up everyone.” They were ever-so-grateful for the sweet drawings and messages.
