BUTTE COUNTY, CA (MPG) – The Butte County Sheriff’s Office has received information on a couple different phone scams happening in our area.

The first report we received was from a community member stating someone from the “Social Security Office” called them advising they had a warrant for their arrest and then requested personal information.

The second one BCSO was contacted about involved a person getting a call from the “Butte County Prosecutor’s Office,” stating the person had a “civil lawsuit” against them and again requesting personal information.

We would like to remind our community that you will never be contacted by phone if you have a warrant for your arrest and to NEVER give out personal information if you are unsure of who is on the other end of the line. When in doubt, HANG UP!
