Vitalant Hoping to Alleviate COVID-Related Blood Unit Shortage

GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - The current COVID pandemic has affected many things, not least of which is the availability of blood units for life-saving treatments. With many schools, churches and community buildings currently closed, blood donors are needed to make up for a shortfall of thousands of uncollected donations. There is a critical need for O+ and O- blood types, and with the typical holiday season shortfalls, all blood types.
A Vitalant blood drive will be held Tuesday December 1st at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 400 Spruce St. in Gridley from 2-7 pm. Covid safety protocols will be in place, facemasks will be required, and temperatures will be taken upon entry. Appointments are necessary in order to maintain social distancing.
