BCSO Detectives Arrest Two Individuals during Drive-by Shooting Investigation
Nov 18, 2020 12:00AM ● By Butte County Sheriff's OfficeOROVILLE, CA (MPG) – On the evening of November 07, 2020, Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies and detectives responded to a drive-by shooting in the area of Mountain Vista Drive, Oroville. Upon arrival deputies determined a victim had been shot, a residence had been shot multiple times, and two vehicles had been shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
Detectives conducted follow-up and determined the victims were hosting a family gathering at their residence. Around 6:20 PM a vehicle drove past their residence. An individual in the vehicle fired multiple shots toward the residence. One of the bullets struck the victim, and one bullet penetrated the wall to a room housing four children.
On November 09, while conducting follow-up on the shooting, detectives conducted a probation search at a residence located in the 4700 block of V-E Avenue, Oroville. During a search of the residence detectives located approximately 300 grams of methamphetamine, a firearm with an altered serial number, and clothing depicting the name of a criminal street gang. Cher Vang, age 26, of Oroville, and Gier Vang, age 20, of Oroville were both placed under arrest during the probation search. On November 09, Cher and Gier were booked into the Butte County Jail for possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of a controlled substance while armed, altering a firearm serial number, and participating in a criminal street gang. Cher and Gier are scheduled to be arraigned at the Butte County Superior Court on Thursday, November 12, at 3 PM.
Detectives are conducting additional follow-up related to the drive-by shooting and additional arrests are anticipated. Detectives are attempting to obtain additional video surveillance from November 07, 2020 from the locations listed below.
-Oro Dam Boulevard between Highway 99 and Highway 70
-Grand Avenue between 18th Street and Table Mountain Boulevard
-Nelson Avenue between 18th Street and Table Mountain Boulevard
