BUTTE COUNTY, CA (MPG) – The Butte County Sheriff’s Department has been an integral part of the information chain during recent wildfire events. Alert notifications, Evacuation status, Evacuation maps, and Sheriff’s Escort Submission forms can be found online at Buttecounty.net/sheriffcoroner/ along with imagery from the fire zone.

Recently added are that of 360° panoramic aerial maps, comparison maps, major road maps and the Calfire assessment maps.

The 360° panoramic images of the North Complex Fire West Zone are the result of drone footage of the areas. The website states, “Aerial imagery was collected at the request of Butte County Sheriff’s Office by an interagency task force of law enforcement drone teams. Teams include Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, Stockton PD, San Leandro PD and were coordinated by the Alameda County. Sheriff’s Office. CSU Chico provided high speed internet, computers and support to the team.” While the images are quite impressive, the BCSO says that they might not be a complete assessment of all the fire damage in the area.

Please visit the North Complex 360 Panoramas page via Buttecounty.Net or directly at https://tinyurl.com/y5cf85bg. As a reminder, flying private drones in an active wildfire zone is illegal unless coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration and CALFIRE agencies.
