GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - At roughly 8:30 pm on Wednesday, September 2nd, Gridley Police Department received a call stating that a potential shooting/stabbing was currently in progress at Gridley’s Fastrip gas station.

The incident is currently under investigation by GPD Detective Michael Mitchell, but Lieutenant Quihuiz can confirm a stabbing did occur - no shooting. Lieutenant Quihuiz says that the original dispatch was for multiple reports of a physical altercation in progress at Fastrip. The 911 calls stated that four males were involved in a violent quarrel, with witnesses reporting suspects involved using both sticks and a vehicle as weapons. Video surveillance is being reviewed by investigators to establish a clear and detailed outline of the incident. Lieutenant Quihuiz says, “We believe that there were rocks being used as weapons,” he continues, “We know for a fact that one of the involved did get stabbed.”

Gridley PD is currently not releasing the identities of the suspects involved until the investigation is complete, although they have been identified as Gridley residents. The injured suspect was transported to Orchard Hospital for the treatment of his wounds that Lieutenant Quihuiz described as a “critical injury”. He was later transferred out to Enloe Hospital for continued care.

Gridley Police Department expects Chief Harr will be putting out a press release upon the completion of the investigation, wherein the subjects will be identified and any additional shareable details will be made known.
