GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – Gridley High School incoming Freshmen - and all other area Freshmen for that matter – can add yet another unique “first” to their list thanks to COVID 19. Not only was the class the first 8th Grade generation to graduate drive-thru style, but now, is the first generation to start their high school careers distance learning.
Jenny Muzzy, mother to Freshman Kirsten Muzzy, wanted to do something special for her daughter and the other students embarking on this typically huge “first day” of high school. She says, “It’s so strange… not having had a traditional end to their eighth grade year or traditional ceremony…. And now beginning High School distance learning…” Regardless of the forced virtual start to their High School careers, she says of the students - “These kids are sure resilient.”
On the first day of school for GHS, Monday, August 31st, Muzzy organized a special “Freshmen Take on the beginning of their high school year” photo shoot. Incoming Freshmen were invited to meet at the Gridley High School campus for a group shot. Not all were able to attend, but many arrived showing their spirit and wearing their new school colors – Bulldog Blue & Gold.
