GPD Blocks Block Party
Aug 26, 2020 12:00AM ● By Seti LongGridley, CA (MPG) - Recently a resident of Heron Landing in Gridley has been circulating “Community Block Party” flyers inviting residents to “Adventure through the community and safely collect community resources” from August 25th to 28th.
On August 19th, Gridley Police Departments Chief of Police, Rodney Harr, released a community message regarding the block party. It reads:
Gridley Community Members
It has been brought to the attention of the Gridley Police Department that a local individual is passing out flyers for a “Block Party” in the Heron Landing sub-division area of the City of Gridley. These flyers are referencing participating agencies and organizations to include the Gridley Police Department and the City of Gridley, along with many other local, state, and national organizations.
The Gridley Police Department and the City of Gridley are not participating, nor has any permission been given to this individual to use the Gridley Police Department of the City of Gridley and as a reference for this “Block Party”. The Gridley Police Department and the City of Gridley have no affiliation whatsoever with this event.
I have conducted several inquiries to many of the agencies and organizations listed on the flyer as well. None of the agencies and organizations I contacted were aware of this event, and they too had not given permission to be used for reference, nor were they participating in this “Block Party”. This flyer and the information contained in it, is false and misleading information being provided to the community. This individual has been contacted by the Gridley Police Department and notified that this “Block Party” is not and would not be permitted due to the false and misleading information with regard to participating agencies and organizations.
Respectfully,
Rodney Harr
Chief of Police
