Butte County Soon To Be On State's Monitoring List Due To Rising Covid-19 Cases

The CaliforniaDepartment of Public Health(CDPH)notified Butte Countytoday that if the County’scoronavirus data do not improve over the next 48hours, the County will be added to the Monitoring List on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. If the County remains on the monitoring list for 72 hours Butte County will be subject to new restrictions as part of statewide actions designed to slow the spread of coronavirus. These restrictions would be effective on Saturday, July 25, 2020 and would remaininplace until the State takes further action.ButteCounty joins over 30other counties in the State in being added to the monitoring list.Butte County’srate of infections per 100,000 residents is averaging 115-130 daily. The threshold to be added to themonitoring list is over 100 cases per 100,000 residents.From the Statewide Public Health Officer Order, once Counties have remained on the monitoring list for threeconsecutive days they must close all indoor operationsof the following types of businesses/events/activities:

*Gyms and fitness centers

*Places of worship

*Protests

*Offices for non-critical infrastructure sectors

*Personal care services(includingnail salons, massage parlorsand tattoo parlors)

*Hair salons and barbershops

*Malls

As a reminder, effective July 13, 2020, ALL counties were required toclose indoor operations in these sectors:

*Dine-in restaurants

*Wineries and tasting rooms

*Movietheaters

*Family entertainment centers (for example: bowling alleys, miniature golf, batting cages and arcades)

*Zoos and museums

*CardroomsAdditionally, bars, brewpubs, breweries, and pubs must close all operations both indoor and outdoor statewide, unless they are offering sit-down, outdoor dine-in meals. Alcohol can only be sold in the same transaction as a meal.

BCPH reminds residents that gatherings of any size should be postponed or canceled. A gathering is when people from separate households come together, even if they are family members.A growing body of scientific research has shown that people with no or few symptoms of COVID-19 can still spread the disease and that the use of face coverings, combined with physical distancing and frequent handwashing, will reduce the spread of COVID-19.Residents should continue to take prevention actions to stop and slow the spread of COVID-19, including:

*Wash your hands oftenï,·Maintain social distancing of at least six feet

*Stay home if you are sick

*Avoid touching your face

*Limit non-essential travel

*Avoid gatheringsï,·Avoid sick people

*Wear a face covering when in high-risk settings
