BCSO Announces Arrest of Oroville Resident for Possession of Child Pornography

BUTTE COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) announced the arrest of Dwayne Hansen of Oroville, 49. On May 29, Butte County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Marine Unit were patrolling the area of the Monument Hill Boat Launch, Oroville. Deputies located a motorhome with expired registration parked in the Monument Hill parking lot. Deputies contacted Dwayne Hansen, the individual who was living in the motorhome. A records check indicated Hansen was required to register pursuant to the Sex Offender Registration Act.
During the contact with Hansen, deputies located marijuana and methamphetamine. While searching the motorhome deputies located children’s underwear. Deputies questioned Hansen about the children’s underwear. Hansen told deputies he used the children’s underwear while performing sexual acts. Deputies continued speaking with Hansen, at which time Hansen disclosed he had child pornography on a cell phone located inside the motorhome. After disclosing he was in possession of child pornography, Hansen stood up and attempted to run away from deputies. After a short foot pursuit, Hansen was arrested without incident.
Detectives arrived and collected Hansen’s electronic devices. Detectives authored a search warrant for the electronic devices, and a forensic download of the devices was conducted pursuant to the search warrant. Detectives located numerous images of child pornography on Hansen’s electronic devices.
Hansen was booked into the Butte County Jail for a felony count of possession of more than 600 images of child pornography, a felony count of possession of child pornography showing the intentional infliction of pain on minor victims for the purpose of sexual gratification or stimulation, a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, a felony count of possession of nunchakus, a misdemeanor count of resisting or delaying a peace officer, and a misdemeanor count of possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
