Gridley-Biggs PD Preps for COVID-19
Mar 31, 2020 12:00AM ● By By Seti LongGRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Recently the Gridley-Biggs Police Department put out a notice to area residents regarding precautions being taken to minimize the exposure of their staff to the quickly spreading COVID-19 virus.
According to the notice, GBPD will be implementing the following recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the State of California Public Health guidelines and County of Butte Public Health guidelines:
Personal contact should be avoided on any service where a suspect is not present and there is no need to secure physical evidence. In those cases, the call shall be handled by phone to protect our staff. Exceptions to this require supervisor approval;
GPD dispatch will inform reporting parties that officers will not respond for personal contact on a particular call for service and it will be handled by phone. The calls include, but are not limited to: Abandoned vehicles, fraudulent use of credit cards, harassment using an electronic device, identity theft, lost property, non-injury assault/battery, theft, theft from vehicle, theft of credit card, theft of mail, vandalism, violation of a court order;
The GPD lobby will remain open, but general fingerprinting services will be suspended. Registrants will continue to be processed, however, the updating of photographs for registrants is suspended;
Animal Control services will remain in effect, however the shelter will be closed to the public;
All ride-alongs are suspended until further notice. This includes the public, applicants or family members;
All volunteer services are suspended;
Visitors to the police facilities will be limited to those that are absolutely necessary to maintain the facilities;
Training or meetings that require close personal contact, travel, or the inability to maintain adequate social distancing shall be canceled;
