GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - As one of the most at risk groups, seniors need to be vigilant about sanitizing against COVID-19 and adhere to social distancing practices. It can be difficult to achieve while attempting to procure simple grocery items during this time over crowded stores. The trend of over-shopping and panic buying that the public has been engaged in worsens the predicament many of our elder citizens find themselves in.

Due to that, many stores are designating special hours just for our senior shoppers. Those hours tend to be in the early mornings, just after the stores open and when their shelves are fullest after restocking. The following is a list of designated senior shopping hours for markets in our areas:

Safeway: 6:00 am to 9:00 am Tuesdays & Thursdays

Dollar General: First hour after opening, everyday.

SavMor: Recommends seniors come in early mornings.

Food Maxx: Tuesdays & Thursdays - 6:00 am - 9:00 am

Smart & Final: Everyday 7:30 am - 8:00 am
