Butte County Sheriff's Office Announces Arrest of Six Individuals

The arrests are the culmination of an investigation that began in November 2019. On November 19, BCSO responded to a residential burglary in the Oroville area. Deputies were able to obtain video surveillance of the suspects committing the burglary. BCSO Deputies identified the suspects as Jason Sylva of Oroville, age 39, and Chelsey Sylva of Oroville, age 25. Detectives and Deputies were familiar with Jason and Chelsey from previous contacts.
Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Jason and Chelsey, and a search warrant for their residence on La Cresenta Drive, Oroville.
On December 4, Detectives, Designated Area Deputies, and members of the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force (BINTF) served the search warrant. During the service of the search warrant, Chelsey was contacted and placed under arrest. Jason was located at a neighbor’s residence and placed under arrest. Five additional individuals were contacted at the La Cresenta residence during the service of the search warrant. Detectives located numerous items of stolen property and methamphetamine at the La Cresenta residence. Jason admitted to participating in the November 19 burglary.
The following individuals were arrested on December 4 during the service of the search warrant:
Jason Sylva of Oroville, age 39 was arrested for residential burglary.
Chelsey Sylva of Oroville, age 25 was arrested for residential burglary.
Britney Flores of Oroville, age 32, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
Joshua Scarbrough of Oroville, age 35 was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and an arrest warrant.
Joshua Payan of Durham, age 30 was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, and for a violation of probation.
Chelsie Oleary of Oroville, age 34 was arrested for an arrest warrant.
It is possible Jason and Chelsey were involved in other burglaries. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about this investigation to contact Detective Joe Hooks at 530-538-7671.
