GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - The Gridley Blue juniors baseball team concluded a fantastic Little League season with a chance to play for the District 47 Tournament of Champions championship game against host Durham on Saturday, June 8th. After beating the Gridley Red team in a best of 3-game series, winning games two and three, Gridley Blue advanced to play in the Tournament of Champions.

In their first game, Gridley Blue faced Hamilton Capay on Saturday, June 1st. Gridley won 14-3 with some key offensive plays and precision pitching by Kendall Witt to move onto the next game. On Wednesday, June 5th, Gridley faced off against Willows in a game in which Gridley won by a score of 13-4. Again, great offensive execution by the entire offense and great pitching Joel Garcia helped lead the team to victory and onto the championship round.

Saturday, June 8th proved to be the biggest challenge for the Gridley team against Durham. A slow start offensively and a few mistakes on defense led to an 18-3 defeat.
